About M. Hamzah Khan — Senior DevOps Engineer

I’m Hamzah Khan (M. Hamzah Khan) — self-proclaimed genius, ruler of the Internet, and Senior DevOps Engineer the rest of the time. I’m based in London, UK, and I’ve been working in Linux systems and infrastructure for over 15 years. This site is where I write about the things I build, break, and occasionally manage to understand.

Professional Background Link to heading

I work as a Senior DevOps Engineer, currently focused on Grafana observability at scale — building and maintaining monitoring platforms that ingest metrics, logs, and traces across large Kubernetes environments. Previous roles have included DevOps engineering in financial services and broader infrastructure engineering.

Some specifics from my work:

  • Designed and operated Grafana observability stacks (Grafana, Loki, Mimir, Prometheus, Grafana Alloy) at scale across large Kubernetes environments
  • Built and maintained Kubernetes-based platforms with a GitOps workflow using FluxCD
  • Infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and Ansible, targeting RHEL/AlmaLinux environments
  • CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance (GitLab CI, Jenkins)
  • Linux systems administration across RHEL/CentOS/AlmaLinux at scale

Home Lab & Hobbies Link to heading

Outside of work I run a home lab that serves as a platform for experimentation. The core of it is a VyOS-based router handling BGP, WireGuard VPNs, and DNS — I have written about these in my VyOS posts. I also run Kubernetes on Proxmox with FluxCD for GitOps, and a full Grafana observability stack monitoring the lot.

I got into 3D printing in 2025 with a second-hand Ender 3, which I promptly upgraded with a Klipper firmware stack, a new hotend, and a direct drive extruder. Naturally I also monitor it with Grafana. Those adventures are documented in my Ender 3 series.

I’m a Londoner and father of three.
